Children's Policy

Children's Policy

 

Children are welcome at the Dowd YMCA. To ensure their safety and maintain this facility's policies and procedures, the following policy will be adhered to: 
 

FACILITY USAGE

Children Under 16  

May only use the facility during the following times: 

Friday > 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM  

Saturday > 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM  

Sunday > 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM  

Or when registered in a program offered outside of the hours specified above  

Must be within arm's distance of a parent/guardian, at least 18 years of age, who is responsible for them at all times while in the facility, including the Fitness Bar area.
 

SPECIFIED AREAS 
  • Fitness Bar area.
  • Basketball Courts (only when group exercise classes are not in session)
  • Indoor Pool
  • Available Racquetball/Handball Courts (reservations cannot be made for children)
    •  

    LOCKER ROOM USAGE 
    For safety reasons, usage of the workout areas, whirlpools, steam rooms and sauna in the Health Centers is not permitted for any children under the age of 16. 
     
    Children Under 2 (Under 24 months)
    May use the appropriate Family Locker Rooms off the pool deck or the Men's and Women's Health Center changing, restroom and shower areas with accompanying parent/guardian of either sex over the age of 18.  
     
    Children Over 2 (over 24 months) and Under 6 
    May use the appropriate Family Locker Rooms off the pool deck or the Men's and Women's Health Center changing, restroom and shower areas with accompanying parent/guardian of either sex over the age of 18 or Men's and Women's Health Center changing, restroom and shower areas only in accompaniment of the same sex parent/guardian over the age of 18.
     
    Children 6 and Over 
    May use the appropriate Family Locker Rooms off the pool deck or the Men's and Women's Health Center only in accompaniment of the same sex parent/guardian over the age of 18  
     
    Children under 16 will not be granted access on CMS school holidays or breaks unless they are participating in a paid program. 
     
    Onsite Drop-in Child Care is available for members with children ages 6 weeks to 10 years old (weekday and Saturday mornings with some evenings).  Drop-in child care is free for children who are YMCA Metro members. Space is limited. Reservations offered.
