Andy C. Calhoun
President and Chief Executive Officer
Andy is a 40-year veteran of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, who cares deeply about the mission, values and vision of the organization. A native of Thomasville, North Carolina, he began his career at the Central Branch (now the Dowd YMCA) in 1972, working as the Assistant Youth Director. He worked in a number of roles over his early career before becoming Chief Operating Officer in 1994. He was appointed President and CEO in March of 2000. Andy graduated with a degree in History from Wake Forest University and earned his MBA from Queens University of Charlotte. Andy lives in Charlotte with his wife, Joann, and two collegiate children, A.J. and Katey.
Michael DeVaul
Senior Vice President of Organizational Advancement
Michael is a 25-year veteran of the YMCA. Michael began his career at the McGaw YMCA in Evanston, Illinois where he served for just over 15 years; he then joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in 1999. Formerly Vice President of the University City and Simmons YMCAs, Michael was recognized by Pride Magazine as the "2006 Excellence in Business Award Winner" for his efforts in community building and diversity work in the University City area and across the greater Charlotte community. In his current role, Mike is responsible for the area of strategic alliances which includes key organizations such as Carolinas Healthcare, Charlotte Bobcats, Mecklenburg County, American College of Sports Medicine and United Way. He is also responsible for the areas of public relations/communications, public policy, YMCA International relationships, key large Association meetings such as the YMCA Annual Meeting, YMCA brand revitalization initiative, community development, diversity and inclusion and total health. He has been an active leader in the YMCA movement currently the North American YMCA Development Organization (NAYDO) and formerly served as the National Convener of the African American Executive Forum and is an active member of the YMCA African American Leadership Forum. He is on the local Boards of the Levine Museum of the New South, Steering Committee for the 2020 vision plan for Charlotte Center City Partners, The African American Agenda Steering Committee (CM3A), Community Advisory Board of the Junior League, the Mallard Creek High School PTSA Leadership Team, Advisor to the University City Community Building Project and is a lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Michael holds a degree from Columbia College. He is married to Laura and has two sons, Cole and Beau.
David W. Dove
Senior Vice President/CFO
Dave was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in 2001. Dave's previous professional experience includes six years as the Chief Financial Officer of a Charlotte-based commercial real estate company and ten years with a national accounting firm. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting from Virginia Tech. In his role as CFO of the Charlotte YMCA, Dave is responsible for overseeing the Association's initiatives in financial planning, strategy, accounting, treasury/cash management and information systems.
Dean M. Jones
Senior Vice President of Financial Development
Dean is a 1982 graduate of Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. He worked in the commercial lending division of Wachovia in Winston-Salem prior to joining the Development Office at Davidson, serving most recently as the Director of Development. Dean had a key staff role during the college's $150 million fundraising campaign. He came to the YMCA in 2000 to lead the organization's financial development department. Dean and his wife, Jane, have three children, Tanner, Nate and Sarah Grace.
Connie Kendrick
Senior Vice President of Leadership Development and YExperience
Connie is a 20-year veteran of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. Early in her career she served as Membership/Marketing Director for the Uptown YMCA (now known as Childress Klein YMCA), became Director of Operations for the Harris YMCA, followed by Executive Director of the Johnston YMCA. Most recently she was YCommunity Vice President serving the Johnston and Siskey YMCAs before moving into her current role. She heads our Leadership Development initiative via the Servant Leadership Academy which provides affordable and convenient training opportunities to developing leaders in North and South Carolina. She also leads the YExperience initiative that involves program development and innovation and quality standards and implementation. Her passion is helping people discover and develop their talents. For life balance, you can find Connie outdoors, kayaking, hiking, camping, backpacking, and enjoying an occasional sunrise or sunset.
Lynn Lomax
Senior Vice President/COO
Lynn, a native of China Grove, North Carolina, is a graduate of Appalachian State University. He began his YMCA career in 1983 as a Youth Sports Director for the Rowan County YMCA in Salisbury. Lynn joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in 1991 as Associate Branch Executive of Membership at the Harris YMCA. Today, he oversees operations for all of the greater Charlotte YMCAs.
