The role of YMCAs across the globe is to respond to the critical needs of the communities they serve.  In the greater Charlotte area, those needs include poverty, illiteracy, poor health and unemployment.  You don't have to look far to see the needs near you.

	The Morrison Family YMCA helped approximately 56 children during the summer of 2009 and 59 children during the school year at Berry Hill and Nations Ford Elementary raise or maintain their reading levels. $1200 provides one child with one summer of YMCA Starfish Academy. Donate Now.
	Funds from the Morrison Family YMCA help provide a fun, safe environment for 550 children and teens in the Steele Creek Corridor in order to participate in summer camp and during the hours afterschool.  It is here where they engage in enriching, healthy activities with positive role models. $175 provides one child with one week of summer day camp. $250 provides one child with afterschool for one month. 	Funds from the Morrison Family YMCA help provide a fun, safe environment for children and teens in the East Charlotte Corridor at our Simmons YMCA to participate during the hours afterschool.  It is here where they engage in enriching, healthy activities with positive role models. $250 provides one child with Afterschool for one month.  Donate Now.
	The YMCA employs six social workers who serve more than 200 families with children in Charlotte's most at-risk neighborhoods.  The Strengthening Families Program helps these families connect to resources that fill basic needs. $1300 provides one family in crisis with one year of needed support.
