Committed volunteer and board member Bridget-Anne Hampden was recently honored with the
George Williams Award
in recognition of her outstanding volunteer service to the Harris & Harris Express YMCAs.
Bridget-Anne Hampden is the Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Office of Federal Student Aid, U.S. Department of Education. She is responsible for assisting FSA's CIO in providing technology solutions that deliver over $3.5 trillion of student aid to approximately 80 million students in over 30 countries.
Ms. Hampden most recently held the post of President and CEO of JHR & Associates, LLC, a global management consulting firm specializing in various aspects of strategic planning, information technology, leadership development and cultural diversity. Clients included Lexmark International, Lending Tree, Antigua and Barbuda Investment Bank, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library. She is the former Managing Director and Chief Information Officer of the Corporate and Investment Banking Group at Wachovia Corporation, Charlotte, North Carolina. In this capacity, Ms. Hampden had overall leadership responsibility for all information systems and technology initiatives for businesses such as Fixed Income, Equity Capital Markets, International, Credit Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Capital Finance. Prior to joining Wachovia Corporation, Ms. Hampden worked for JPMorgan Chase in New York for over 25 years and served as Managing Director of Information Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection for all global locations of the firm.
Ms. Hampden was an internationally respected speaker, lecturing across the United States and throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America, focusing primarily on the topic of Information Security and Critical Infrastructure (or Contingency) Planning. A member of New York City's Pace University's Board of Trustees, Ms. Hampden also sits on the boards of the Harris YMCA and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation and she is a member of the Women's Intercultural Exchange – all in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Ms. Hampden formerly served as one of nine Commissioners responsible for implementing the North Carolina Education Lottery, serving as Chair of the Finance Committee. She is a 2003 graduate of the Leadership Development Initiative (Class II) sponsored by the Charlotte, North Carolina Community Building Initiative and a 2004-2005 graduate of Leadership America (North Carolina).
Among her many accomplishments and awards, Ms. Hampden received the 2009 YMCA Willie J. Stratford, Sr. Diversity Award, the 2008 Outstanding Champions of Diversity Award from the Association for Philanthropy and was inducted into The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club – Women's History Hall of Fame in 2008. Ms. Hampden also received the 2006 United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Women Who Lead Award; the 1999 National Association of Urban Bankers – Robert J. Samuels Outstanding Banker of The Year Award; the 1998 Pace University Lubin School of Business Alumni Achievement Award and the YMCA Black Achievers in Industry Award.
Bridget-Anne holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Computer Science from Pace University and an MBA from New York University's Executive MBA Program. In addition, Ms. Hampden is a graduate of the Aspen Leadership Institute, Aspen, Colorado. She is a member and Elder of CN Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church and is the proud mother of three sons.
