Out of School Time Programs:

If schools are dismissed early due to weather:
  • The YMCA of Greater Charlotte will NOT send vehicles to the schools to pick up the children.  This will pertain to Union County Students.
  • We will provide care at the Y for those in need that can provide their own transportation or for those students dropped off at the Y by CMS transportation.
  • If you have put an alternate plan in place with the school, please let the Out of School Time staff know so that they do not expect your child to attend.
  • If you are picking up your child from the Y, please make every effort possible to pick them up as early as possible.
  • Hawkridge students can still be dismissed to the Y if needed since they walk over.

If there is a delayed start in the morning:

  • Before School Care will operate on the same time delay
(ex. 2 hour delay at school = Before School Care will begin at 9:30 AM)

If school is cancelled:

  • The Community Vice President of the YMCA will decide whether the facility will open and if or when all day care will open for Out of School Time participants.  An outgoing message will be left on the Out of School Time phone by 6:00 AM.  Please call 704 589 0250 to check the status of the program.
