Leadership Development


The Leadership Development programs at the Morrison Family YMCA are in place to help teens develop leadership qualities through the Y Earth Service Corp, volunteering, and Leaders Club. Each of the Leadership Development programs are free! Get involved and sign up today!

Teen Program Information Session - 7th to 12th grade

Interested teens and parents are invited to attend one of these informational meetings to learn more about Leaders Club, Volunteers At Morrison (VAM), Youth and Government (YAG) and Y Earth Service Corporation (YESC) offerings, requirements, and opportunities for the new school year.

Volunteers at Morrison - 7th to 12th grade

Volunteers at Morrison (VAM) is a club for teens who are ready to learn and grow while they give back to their community and spend time with their friends. The program is built on community service and volunteer work. The club will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. All participants must be registered and active volunteers with the Morrison Family YMCA and will be required to complete at least 50 hours of volunteer work at the Morrison Family YMCA over the span of the school year.

Leaders Club - 7th to 12th grade

The main purpose of Leaders Club is to offer teens (ages 13-18) leadership development through YMCA health and physical education. By joining Leaders Club, you will:

 

  • Gain experience through volunteering
  • Serve the community
  • Build your resume
  • Strengthen your academics
  • Form great friendships
  • Achieve higher levels of physical fitness
  • Enjoy social gatherings once a month
  • Become a role model for other kids & teens
  • Have the opportunity to attend Blue Ridge Leaders' School in Black Mountain, NC
  • Most importantly - Have Fun!

Youth and Government - 9th to 12th grade

Teens will learn first hand about local and state government, parlimentary procedure, and bill writing. The program culminates with a trip to the state capital for the Youth and Government conference with over 800 other teens across the state.

Middle School Model UN

For those middle school youth interested in starting to learn more about government, this is the program! Spend a few months working with your peers on worldwide issues that are presented at the state conference in Black Mountain, NC.
