DONATE NOW

When you give to the McCrorey YMCA, you make our community better through life-changing programs and services focused on:

INSPIRING YOUNG POTENTIAL AND DRIVING ACADEMIC SUCCESS

Afterschool and Summer Camp
Camp and afterschool create a fun, safe place where kids can be themselves, cultivate friendships and learn from positive role models. Each year, the McCrorey Family YMCA serves more than 300 campers and afterschool kids, with an emphasis on learning, literacy and healthy living.

A donation of $1,000 sends six children to one week of summer camp filled with enriching, healthy activities and positive role models.

Teen Programming
CampAt the Y, mentors, staff and other role models guide teens toward reaching their full potential as responsible adults through structured programming like TILT (Teens in Leadership Training). Twenty percent of participants receive financial assistance.

A donation of $375 provides one year of leadership training for five teens in the TILT program.

Youth Sports
When kids play sports they build confidence and develop lifelong healthy habits. One in four participants receives financial assistance.

A donation of $25 gives a child the chance to build confidence and stay active with two weeks of youth sports instruction.

DROWNING PREVENTION

Swim Lessons
When kids learn to swim, they build confidence, acquire safety/rescue skills and develop lifelong healthy habits. More than 200 kids participate in swim lessons each year at the McCrorey YMCA.

Safety Around Water
Safety Around WaterSafety Around Water is the Y’s on-site water safety program that engages low-income youth living in local apartment communities where pools are often without lifeguards. The 8-session course, taught by certified YMCA swim instructors and lifeguards, teaches children basic water safety and swimming skills that reduce their risk of drowning and give them confidence in and around water. Since 2015, the program has grown from serving 300 kids at six local apartment communities to a goal of serving 2,000 kids across 40 apartment communities in 2017.

“Because of a near drowning experience when she was younger, my daughter used to be really afraid of the water. The Y’s Safety Around Water program changed that. She’s not afraid anymore and loves running and jumping into the pool. Learning to face her fears has also really helped her in other aspects of her life. I’m so grateful that the Y brought this program outside of its four walls and into our community.” – Vanessa, Parent

A donation of $70 gives a child at risk of drowning the chance to learn the life-saving skill of swimming through water safety instruction at her apartment community pool.

TACKLING COMMUNITY HEALTH CHALLENGES

Active Adults Programming (55+ Years)
Active AdultsEach year, the McCrorey Family YMCA helps 750 senior members of our community avoid isolation by bringing them together to share in common interests like water exercise, walking, wellness workshops, creative arts, travel excursions and Christian fellowship. One in three receives financial assistance for a YMCA membership.

A donation of $750 gives a senior one year of access to the YMCA where she can connect with new friends and find a network of support.

ENSURING ACCESS AND BELONGING FOR ALL

Financial Assistance
Our Y is committed to serving those in greatest need. Through the generosity of our donors, we’re able to provide financial assistance for membership access and program participation, making life-changing Y programs and services available to those who need us most in Northwest Charlotte. At the McCrorey Family YMCA, we provide nearly $200,000 in financial assistance each year.

A Place For All
The McCrorey Family YMCA has been responding to the critical needs of our community for more than 80 years. That includes fulfilling our mission to serve all by supporting our neighbors with special needs. Our Y provides inclusive afterschool care for autistic children as well as accessible programming that connects the visually impaired with the tools and resources they need to thrive.
