HELP A CHILD LEARN TO SWIM. Children under five and adolescents between the ages of 15-24 have the highest drowning rates.* At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill for every child and teen. In swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified, well-trained instructors meet kids at their own level, help families set achievable goals and celebrate all successes. By educating and partnering with parents, we're determined to prevent drowning in our community. *U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
GIVE THEM A PLACE TO GROW YMCA Day Camp provides youth with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Kids have fun while building self-confidence, appreciating teamwork and gaining independence. Camp BoomerangTM is an inclusion based summer day camp for typical children and children with autism ages 5-15. All campers will participate side by side in age appropriate activities that include nature, parachute, field sports, low ropes, tower, fishing, swimming, devotions, and arts and crafts. In addition, campers take part in specialized enrichment activities several times a week. Support staff (peer buddies, two-on-one staffing and one-on-one staffing) can be provided to children with autism.
BUILDING SOCIAL NETWORKS The Siskey YMCA's Active Adults program helps the senior members of our community avoid isolation by bringing them together to share in common interests through exercise classes, wellness programs and Christian fellowship.
