Our preschool is staffed with capable and caring teachers who are eager to work with your child. Each are trained in early child development and exemplify outstanding character, compassion and love for children.

TEACHER - STUDENT RATIOS
Ratios are very important to the success of any preschool, and ours at Brace Family Preschool Academy are significantly lower than the state requires. In addition to a low Teacher - Student ratio, we also take pride that our class sizes are low to further protect and enhance your child’s school experience. Smaller class sizes allow each child a more personalized learning environment.

Supply List
Your child does not need to bring much to school each day. All that is really required is that they show up promptly with their preschool backpacks (with an extra set of clothes and their daily communication folder inside) and their snack/lunch for the day.
 
Since toys/electronics from home can be lost or cause friction among children, please do not let your child bring them to school
 
Parents of 2 year olds: on the first day, please send in 10 diapers and a set of wipes in a labeled plastic bag. These items will be kept for your child in the classroom throughout the year. When your child’s items run low, we will send home a note as a reminder to send more in. This way you will not need to pack them daily for your child.

LABEL EVERYTHING
We cannot emphasize enough the importance of labeling all your child’s personal belongings. Very often if an item is not labeled, teachers are unable to determine its owner. Therefore, if your child brings it to school, make sure that their name is clearly written on it. Here’s a list of items to label: shoes, socks, clothes, coats, hats, gloves, backpacks, lunch boxes, drink cups, etc. 
 
Schedule
A monthly calendar of school events and holidays is sent home at the beginning of each month. And you can plan ahead for our events or school closures by downloading and printing our 2017-2018 Brace Family Preschool Academy Calendar.
 
Food
Food / Snack Info
Please pack a nutritious snack each day for your preschooler. Snack Time is scheduled at the mid point of the school day therefore it is at your discretion whether to pack them a full lunch or just a snack. Teachers will sit with and monitor the students during this time each day to ensure safety and assist with opening containers. But, they will not be responsible for the amount your child chooses to eat of his or her snack items nor can lunches be heated. Teachers do insist that children eat their healthier items first.  You are encouraged to use insulated containers to keep your child’s lunch appropriately warm or cold.

ALLERGIES
The Brace Family Y Preschool program is a peanut-sensitive facility and we ask that you do not send tree nut products. Please consult ingredients when preparing your child’s snack. Preschool aged children do not often know if they have an allergy to such products and if they do, they do not often remember to be careful of what foods they eat. This YMCA of Greater Charlotte children’s policy is put into place for the safety of all the children. Due to YMCA Guidelines, staff members reserve the right to remove any nut products from your child’s snack/lunch due to the health issues of many children with allergies. Crackers will be given as a supplement.

Pick Up 
2’s and 3’s: Drop-Off: 8:30 AM | Pick-Up: 12:30 PM
 
4’s and TK: Drop-Off: 9:00 AM | Pick-Up: 1:00 PM
 
Children may be dropped off from the car line to their teacher, or parents may park and walk their children to the front door to their child’s teacher. Here are some important rules and guidelines for dropping off your child:
  • When using our convenient covered drive-through drop-off, please remain in your car and allow the teacher to retrieve/load your child from the vehicle, for safety purposes
  • Children will not be permitted into the school until the doors open for arrival. Please respect the fact that our teachers need to have their time to prepare for the day.
  • Children need to arrive no later than 10 minutes after class time starts, as this makes them not only feel out of place because they may have missed the morning activity, but it also disrupts the class. If you are later than 10 minutes, you will need to park and walk your child in through the TOP front door of the preschool building. There, the Director will walk them to class. The teachers lock all entrance doors after 10 minutes of drop off time.
  • Please be courteous to the flow of traffic and keep moving to allow classes to start on time.
LATE PICK-UP
There is a 5-minute grace period granted for late pick-ups. A $1.00 per minute fee will be charged and payment is due by the next school day. A form will be given to you as a reminder. Should you not pay your fee; your child will not be allowed to attend school until it is paid. Chronic late pick-ups will be grounds for dismissal from the program. If a child is not picked up after 10 minutes, we will call someone on your emergency list.

EARLY SIGN OUT / LATE DROP-OFF
If you wish to pick up or drop off your child prior to regular time (due to a doctor’s appointment, for example), please inform your child’s teacher in writing, in advance.

AUTHORIZATION
Participants will only be released to the legal guardian or a person listed on the approved pick up form. Every adult must present a photo ID at carpool pick up. In the event that a child will be picked up by someone not on the approved list, a parent must send a note including the person’s name picking up (as seen on the photo ID).
 
To ensure the safety of all children in our programs, we need your most current information. The quickest and easiest way is to go to your account on the website and update your information online. You can also update your information at the branch.

REGISTRATION FEES
Registration fees and supply fees are due at the time of registration and are non-refundable.

PROGRAM ADJUSTMENT RATE
As part of our My Y Pricing rate structure, an adjusted program rate is available to all who qualify. Both Members and Program Participants must provide income verification at the Sales & Service Center in order to receive an adjusted program rate.
 
PAYMENTS
Tuition for the entire year is divided into NINE equal monthly payments by debit/credit card or bank draft. The first payment is due August 15, 2017 and the last due April 15, 2018. Member and non-member rates are determined based on the child’s YMCA membership status. All balances must be paid in full in order for a child to attend. If your membership status or program adjusted rate changes before or during the school year, your monthly payment will be adjusted accordingly. Anyone starting after the initial draft period may be subject to a different monthly tuition payment.

LATE PAYMENT POLICY
Monthly payments received after the scheduled due dates will be charged an additional $25 fee.

CANCELLATION /  TRANSFER POLICY
Cancellations or withdrawal from the preschool program will require a 15 days written notice. Parents will be responsible for paying for all days of service through the end of the 15 days notice period.
