MANAGING A HEALTH CONDITION

The Y helps you manage a range of health conditions, including cancer wellness, diabetes prevention and management and more.

Regular exercise and healthy eating habits are essential to the treatment of many chronic diseases. A team of YMCA of Greater Charlotte health professionals will support you in a comprehensive approach to weight management, fitness programming and medical guidance.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA The Y and LIVESTRONG® joined together to create LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals. The research-based program offers people affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.

Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. In addition to physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people impacted by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA helps people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body. Learn More >>

HOPE
The Helping Overweight People Embrace Program (H.O.P.E.), a weekly one-hour therapeutic support group led by credentialed counselors, helps participants explore and gain insight about emotional eating. Throughout this program, participants learn new strategies to help break related unhealthy behaviors.

H.O.P.E. is designed for people who struggle with their body weight. We recognize the importance of the spiritual, mental and physical components when seeking lifestyle change, but our primary focus is on the emotional component. The group provides support as participants discover and practice strategies that can break unhealthy eating, with the goal of developing and maintaining lasting lifestyle changes. For women ages 18+.

Check
One in three Americans have high blood pressure. Of the patients who are aware and are being treated for high blood pressure, almost half are not at goal. We can help change that!

The YMCA, in partnership with the American Heart Association, is excited to bring you Check. Change. Control., a self-monitoring program designed to eliminate high blood pressure as a health disparity among Americans. Learn More >>
