RegisterYOUTH DANCE

Learning and loving the art of dance.

From Kindergarten through high school, our School-Age Dance Classes and Workshops give youth the opportunity to learn the basics of dance or go deeper in ability and skill level. Students experience an intense, yet fun way to exercise through warm-up, basic steps and dance combinations. Aside from growing in discipline, technique also helps improve posture and body control.

Dance Workshops

(Age 1.5 years-5th grade)
Dance Workshops offer fun, casual dance classes taught by professional teaching artists and designed for beginning or returning students. All workshops conclude with a Showcase for family and friends on the last day of class. Workshop participants do not perform in the winter dance showcase or recital. Options vary by season and age and include Dance with Me and Happy Feet for preschool age and several options such as Hip Hop or Cheer Dance for school-age.

Ballet and Tap

Ballet is the foundation for all dance forms. Our classes are engaging and emphasize placement, balance, control, discipline and clean lines. More advanced classes integrate deep stretching, strengthening exercises and barre work. Center floor work is introduced with a continued focus on the positions of the arms, legs and feet using classical ballet vocabulary.

Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching dancers to find rhythms and beat not only in music but in the their own bodies. The rhythm and movement created by metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes transforms the dancer into a percussive musician.

The focus will be improving flexibility through an intense series of stretches, followed by strength training and working on technique primarily in turns and leaps.

CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL 1 & 2
Ages 6 - 12

CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL 3
Ages 11 - 19
Emphasis on balance, control, and extension. Contemporary / lyrical is expressive, emotional and interpretive. The name "lyrical" comes from the word "lyric" since this dance form is about expressing the lyrics and emotion of the music. Lyrical dance has influences from Modern Dance, Jazz, and Ballet. Because this style is technical in nature with a strong ballet foundation, it is recommended that students take an additional ballet class in conjunction with this style of dance.

CHEER DANCE WORKSHOP
Does your child want to learn about cheering and dancing on a professional sports team? This experience will provide them the opportunity to do just that! They will take lessons from a former Top cats teammate, learn dance routines and professional dance team techniques, develop performance and showmanship skills, build self-esteem and character. Dancers will participate in a Showcase performance at the end of the session to show off the skills they have learned. They will also learn age-appropriate cheer motions, jumps, tumbling skills, and chants.
