Here are some answers to some of our most frequently asked questions:
 
DO YOU OFFER BEFORE SCHOOL AND AFTERSCHOOL?
Yes. We offer Afterschool care for all our local CMS schools. We offer Before School Care for schools who have a “late” bell.
 
WHAT SCHOOLS DO YOU SERVE?
CMS transports children from schools to our three Afterschool locations: WHAT TIME DOES BEFORE SCHOOL OPEN? 
Our program begins at 7:00 AM.
 
WHAT TIME DOES AFTERSCHOOL END?
It ends at 7:00 PM, and you can pick up your child anytime during the program hours (3:00 PM - 7:00 PM).
 
IS THERE A LATE FEE IF MY STUDENT IS PICKED UP AFTER 7:00 PM?
Yes, it is $10 for the 1st 15 minutes and then $1 for every minute after.
 
HOW MUCH IS THE PROGRAM?
Prices vary per location and hours of care offered at each site. Some sites are $12/day (early bell schools) and some are $8/day (late bell schools). Before school pricing is $5.00/day. Please see a member of our Sales & Service team to determine your payment based on school, and number of days per week your child will attend. A one-time registration fee applies, as do My Y Pricing Adjustments.
 
HOW ARE PAYMENTS MADE? WHEN ARE THEY DUE?
Our payment method is direct debit from a checking account, savings account, or credit card. Monthly payments are drafted on the 15th of the month.
 
WHAT HAPPENS ON "EARLY RELEASE" DAYS?
The children are transported to our sites just like always – just earlier in the day. We staff appropriately and are prepared for all early release days.
 
DO YOU HAVE FULL DAY CARE ON DAYS STUDENTS DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL?
Yes and no. We offer full day programing free of charge to our afterschool participants when the students are out due to teacher workdays. This full day of care is also available to our “Before School Only” participants at an additional charge. We typically do not offer care on National Holidays, however we do offer full day camp-style programming during Winter Break and Spring Break for an additional fee.

WHAT IS THE AFTERSCHOOL ROUTINE?
Once the children arrive at their location, they have a snack, complete homework and then participate in healthy, fun games and activities.

AFTERSCHOOL TRANSPORTATION CONNECTION
We offer a connection service to safely transition school-age program participants from school to our Afterschool locations. CMS buses students to our location based on their busing policy. After registration is complete with the YMCA, all CMS school students must complete an alternate stop request form. Alternate Stop Request Form >>
 
Schedule
We serve most area elementary and middle schools from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Please contact Sales & Service Center to see if we serve your child's school. Our program coordinates with the CMS School Calendar in regards to teacher work days, holidays and student breaks.

Food
Food / Snack Info
Snack is provided daily. A snack calendar is provided in your monthly newsletter. Alternate snack options are provided for children with sensitivities or allergies. Please note these on your child’s health form.

Newsletter
We value regular communication with our parents and want to keep you informed of all that’s happening in our program from important reminders to program highlights. Parents will receive monthly newsletters regarding upcoming events, afterschool news and parent involvement opportunities.
 
 
Pick Up 
Only parents and other authorized people will be permitted to pick up a child from our program.  All authorized individuals will need to be prepared to have a photo stored in our system or show photo ID at the time of pick up. “One-Off” pick up authorization – like a grandparent in town – will be honored if submitted to staff in writing. “One Off” pick ups will still be required to show photo identification.  Additions or changes to the Authorized Pick Up list can be made online or with a member of our Sales & Service Team.   

SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Afterschool program will be held in Trailer #60 behind the school. To pick up your child, please use the bus lot. The trailer is located near the back of the lot close to the athletic fields. Please look for the YMCA Rides In/Out sign to indicate where pick up will take place. When you arrive, please call 704 534 5415and a staff member will escort your child to the car.

Payment Procedures
REGISTRATION
Afterschool registrations are processed on a first-come, first served basis:
  • YMCA Member Registration began April 1, 2017
  • Non-Member Registration began April 15, 2017
REGISTRATION FEES
  • $25 – Member
  • $50 – Program Participant
RATES  PAYMENTS
Our payment method is direct debit from a checking account, savings account, or credit card.  Monthly payments are drafted on the 15th of the month.  Pricing is done on a per-day basis and is dependent on your child’s school, bell schedule, and days of service per week. 
 
Tuition is due on the 15th of the previous month and will be drafted in equal monthly installments. A 100% refund will be issued with a 15 day written notice. Written cancellation forms should be submitted to the Sales and Service Desk. Two payment options are available in the form of credit card draft or direct debit from your checking account.
 
MY Y PRICING
As part of our My Y Pricing rate structure, an Adjusted Program Rate is available to all who qualify. Both Members and Non-Members must provide income verification at the Sales & Service Center in order to receive an adjusted program rate.
