At YMCA Camp Thunderbird, teens gain valuable leadership skills while developing their work ethic.
Day Camp Leaders in Training roles prepare teens ages 13 - 15 to become productive members of their home community as well as the possibility of serving as staff members at camp.
LIT-1 candidates must interview with the Day Camp and Outreach Director. Returning LITs will be notified of their eligibility for 2017 in December 2016. After acceptance into the program, registration and payment is online.
LIT-1 programming for first year leaders develops self-knowledge, talent assessment, relationship building, and activity leadership… with adventure and fun throughout! After an interview with camp leadership, LIT-1s discover whether our program is the best fit for their summer options.
LIT-1 is a two week session, one week of which is training.
Session 1: 6/12/17-6/24/17
Session 2: 6/26/17-7/7/17
Session 3: 7/10/17-7/21/17
Session 4: 7/24/17-8/4/17
LIT-2s are selected based on their performance as an LIT-1. Learning in this program will include goal setting, skill mastery, presentation delivery and independent/unique roles, in addition to having fun!
LIT-2 is a three week session, with one week of training followed by a two week session.

Training Session Option 2: 7/3/17-7/7/17
Training Session Option 3: 7/17-7/21/17
LIT-3s have completed two successful LIT summers. LIT-3 programming will include training in basic CPR and First Aid, project management and personal achievement goal setting---and, of course, FUN!
LIT-3 is a four week session, following one training day.
