RESIDENT CAMP DIRECTORS

With decades of experience in the camping field, our executive and resident camp staff directors love sharing in the growth and development of campers.  

Kaye Carraway  
Director of Summer Camp
 
Kaye Carraway began as a counselor at YMCA Camp Thunderbird and has spent over 40 summers here. Kay has a strong commitment to selecting, training and mentoring staff. She also enjoys working with alumni staffers and campers who continue to grow their support for YMCA Camp Thunderbird.
 
A veteran educator, Kaye earned recognition at the state and national levels for her leadership and commitment to serving youth and her profession.
 
Chris Goodrum   
Resident Camp Assistant Director
 
Chris "Goody" Goodrum began in 2014 at YMCA Camp Thunderbird. His background includes 14 years of camping experience in staff development, program innovation, training, team building, group dynamics and facilitation at Siskey YMCA's Hemby Program Center (home of Camp Eagle Rock). Starting off as a counselor, Chris quickly moved through the ranks. His jobs ranged from Specialty Camp Coordinator to Program Staff Director where he supervised Day Camp Programs, Afterschool Programs, Rental and Teambuilding Programs.
 
Goody met his wife Brook at camp. They have one son, Keegan Christopher Goodrum, and another due in August 2016
          
Jordan Huffstettler

Jordan started on staff as a counselor in 2011, working on ski staff for three of those years. In 2015, Jordan was hired into a full time position as the Director of Recruitment and Project Management and the LIT Director.


Bill Carraway      
Waterfront Director
 
A veteran educator, “Captain Bill” has served YMCA Camp Thunderbird as Waterfront Director since 1977. During his tenure at camp, Bill helped to design the bandana system and develop the Special Ski Program.
