Community Development Programs
Serving children and families through our three core program areas:
YMCA Community Social Workers provide intensive support to families in crisis throughout the Charlotte area through our Strengthening Families Program. Integrated into the Strengthening Families Program, Parents as Teachers, or PAT, is an internationally accredited program that focuses on parents of children in their first five years of life.
Starfish Academy provides a literacy program in a summer day camp setting, as well as in an afterschool program for first and second graders to help them achieve academic success.
ESL (English as a Second Language) classes for non-English speaking adults give them the tools necessary to communicate their needs and access services and opportunities in the community.
