Lifeguard Courses This course provides necessary training and information to obtain certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding. 100% attendance is required. If a participant is not able to successfully complete the physical pre–requisites (below), course fees will be refunded. Course fees will not be refunded after the first session has been completed. |
Prerequisites: - Minimum age 15 by course end date
- Successful completion of pre–course evaluation given on first day:
- Continuous 300 yard swim—100 yds each of:
- front crawl / freestyle
- breaststroke
- front crawl / freestyle or breaststroke
- Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 - 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or step, within 1 minute, 40 seconds
- Completed Health Information Form and Participation Waiver
- Must be able to accomplish these tasks:
- Remain alert, with no lapses of consciousness
- Sit for extended periods including in an elevated chair
- Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distance
- Hear noises and distress signals
- Observe all areas of the pool or water park
