Carolinas HealthCare System and the Dowd YMCA offer wellness-based services through the CMC Health Center. It’s a state of the art facility for health promotion and education. The health center is dedicated to enhancing spirit, mind, and body through disease prevention, health education, early detection of illness or injury, and appropriate referral.

Allergy Shot Administration
Find out how the CMC Health Center nurse can administer your maintenance allergy injections each month.
Blood Pressure Monitoring
Come by for a free blood pressure check. If we suspect a problem, we’ll record it daily, weekly or however often you decide. We’ll even supply the record for your physician, or call him/her to discuss your treatment.
Cholesterol Screening
This screening includes a cholesterol test with full lipid breakdown and triglyceride level. Other screenings are available based on physician orders. An individual consultation will be offered to review your results and make diet and exercise recommendations, as well as to discuss heart attack risks. A 10-12 hour fast is required for most accurate results. The charge for a cholesterol screening is $25. Check our Events Calendar for our next screening. Appointments Are Required.
CPR Certification Class
This 4-hour course is taught by an American Red Cross certified instructor. The class teaches you to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies by providing hands-on skills training. Check our Events Calendar for our next class. Pre-registration is required.
Wellness Consultations
Meet individually with our Health Educators and Registered Nurse to discuss any health concerns or to get direction for your wellness journey. We will help to connect you with YMCA programs that will best fit your specific needs.
Wellness on Wednesdays
The Dowd YMCA CMC Health Center offers Wellness on Wednesdays every month right here in our facility! Wellness on Wednesdays occurs on the first Wednesday of every month.
