Fit Central, the Dowd YMCA personal training team, will help you maximize your goals in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Working with a personal trainer can produce dramatic improvements in your life.
The Fit Central trainers at the Dowd YMCA offer a comprehensive fitness assessment, health education, continuous goal setting, health and fitness testing, monitoring of your progress and flexible scheduling. The trainers will also evaluate and monitor your body composition, cardio output, muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.

Structural Postural Training
Feel better, look better, stand straighter and be stronger! Structural Postural Training combines neuromuscular techniques and core body strength. Postural training is a fusion of yoga, strength training and muscle therapy resulting in a better posture, optimized mobility and strength, muscle tone and overall wellness.
In addition, this personalized program can address common misalignments and muscle weakness due to repetitive use during such sports as running, biking and golfing - as well as daily functional strains on the body.

Fit Central and the Dowd YMCA are happy to welcome John Soggs to the personal training staff!
John comes to the Dowd YMCA after ten years at the Pasadena Athletic Club in Los Angeles, California. A four time Ironman triathlete, John brings a wealth of personal experience to his chosen profession. A scholarship track athlete at Clemson University, John specialized in the 800 meters and mile.
John holds a BA in Sociology/Psychology from Clemson University and a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. John served as a chaplain at UCLA Medical Hospital.
He likens his experience as a chaplain to that of a fitness trainer –
“meeting people where they are, coming alongside them, and helping them along their journey”.
John holds the real world athletic experience, the credentials, core knowledge, and the caring heart for you to succeed with your fitness goals.
