Elevate Yourself!
Join the Dowd YMCA andd Mountain Seminars as we offer our second annual mountain climbing experience in the Colorado Rockies! We are heading to Denver, Colorado on July 19-26, 2008 to experience Colorado as you've never seen it before! We will summit Mt. Elbert, the highest peak in the Rockies at 14,433 feet. Other outdoor options will include a high altitude circuit hike and a rafting trip on the Arkansas River before heading back to Denver for our return flights to Charlotte.
Trip leaders will include Bill Brafford from Mountain Seminars LLC, Jane Cacchione from the Dowd YMCA and Patty Million from one of Charlotte's largest hiking clubs. This trip does not require any previous climbing experience, but you must be in good physical condition. The ascent will take one day with no camping, and will be lead by two professional guides. The round distance for the climb is about 10-11 miles. Participants should plan to bring their own gear. We will provide a list of recommended equipment. Mt. Elbert is not a technical climb and will not require crossing deep snow, so no ropes, ice axes or other specialized gear will be needed.
Price:
- $1300 per person based on double occupancy
- $1600 per person for single occupancy
Price includes half of meals on trip (including all trail meals and snacks) and all lodging and transportation in Colorado. Airfare between Charlotte and Denver is not included.
