The Dowd Y Run is a fundraising event held each fall with all proceeds benefiting our Community Outreach Campaign. The dollars raised provide mentors for teens, send children to summer camp, help teach valuable job skills, offer health screenings for seniors and so much more.
Outreach programs such as After School, Photojournalism, Community Band, and Swim Lessons have touched and improved the lives of thousands of Charlotte area residents. Your race entry fee helps to continue this support in our community.

Kid’s Sprint 8:30am
It is a short 125 yard sprint up Caldwell, lead by our very own Shane Hummell. It is geared towards kids under age 6 but all kids are welcome. The entry fee is $8 by Oct. 4th, $10 by Oct. 31 and $12 on race day. Kids can come run the sprint in their Halloween costume!

Packet Pick-Up
If you register online, by mail or in person before October 28, you must pick up your packet at Run For Your Life, Dilworth (2422 Park Rd) beginning Tuesday, October 28 or at race day registration.
You can register and pick up your packet at the following places:
- Dilworth, Tuesday – Friday 10AM - 7 PM
- Stonecrest, Tuesday – Thursday 10 AM - 7 PM; Friday until 12 Noon
- University, Tuesday – Thursday 10:30 AM – 7:30 PM; Friday until 12 Noon
- At the Dowd YMCA on Race Day, beginning at 6:45 AM

Parking
The Dowd YMCA lot will be closed down from the back entrance. You can still enter the lot from the Morehead entrance. Paring is limited in our lot but there is additional parking available at the Carolina Medical Center at 720 E. Morehead St. and the Time Warner building located at 316 E. Morehead St.
Food
Post race food will be provided to race participants by the following: Noodles & Company, Jillian’s, 1300 Southend Tavern and Trader Joe’s.
Double Medal Opportunity!
If you run the Dowd Y Run Half Marathon on November 1, 2008 and the Thunder Road Half Marathon on December 13, 2008, you will receive a 26.2 medal in addition to the Thunder Road Half Marathon medal when you cross the finish line on Saturday, December 13, 2008. A 39.3 medal and a Thunder Road Marathon medal will be given to you as you cross the Thunder Road Marathon finish line if you complete the Dowd Y Run Half Marathon and the Thunder Road Marathon.
You will be contacted via email after the Dowd Y Run Half Marathon in regards to the double medal. You will have until November 10, 2008 to let us know which event you will be participating in for the Thunder Road Marathon. The confirmation code you receive from the online registration for the Thunder Road Marathon event must be included in the reply.
