The Gateway Village YMCA impacts our community through the following programs and services:
Literacy
Starfish Academy: A 6-week summer literacy camp for 40 rising first and second graders identified as at-risk for achieving success with their third grade End-of-Grade tests.
English as a Second Language and Latino Services
Financial support of English as a Second Language & Latino Services allows the YMCA to provide childcare, job training, and ESL classes to more than 400 individuals annually.
Strengthening Families
By supporting eight YMCA social workers who live and work in Charlotte’s most fragile neighborhoods and offer counsel to the neediest, the YMCA creates solutions to poverty one family at a time.
