Charlie Michaels started volunteering at the Harris YMCA in 2003 while helping with sets, lights and music for our annual Harris YMCA Dance Department Nutcracker performance. The following year he began pitching in as the official Mouse King for the Nutcracker. Charlie grew up in the South Park area and had been around the Harris YMCA since it was built in 1980, and even had a brief stint as a lifeguard and swim instructor. When his daughters began taking dance classes, he decided it was time for him to use his skills and experiences to support the Harris Y in a positive way. Since then, Charlie has been involved with a little bit of everything here at Harris, including: multiple support roles for the Dance program, serving on several of our volunteer work teams and with the help of his employer, Exervio Management Consulting, assisting with strategic operational initiatives.

"The Harris YMCA has been a part of my life for over 25 years. It serves a valuable role within the Southpark community and is a source of joy and treasured relationships for my daughters. I am thrilled to participate in the continued growth and presence of the Harris YMCA; so that others may have similar experiences.”
