"I have lived a very blessed life.  As such, I've always wondered how best to "give back" to the Charlotte community and to people less fortunate than me.  I've donated annually to charities and do Habitat for Humanity from time to time, but volunteering on the Johnston Board has given me a more fulfilling outlet of philanthropy.  I have come to appreciate how hard it is to be a not-for-profit organization and that nothing comes easy.
