Water Fitness

At the Lake Norman YMCA, we offer a variety of water fitness classes.  These class schedules are available with our full Group Exercise Schedule

Heart Waves 
An intense and refreshing workout that strengthens the cardiovascular system and conditions the whole body.  Includes 30 - 40 minutes or aerobic conditioning plus 10 - 15 minutes of resistance and a longer flexibility section at the end.

Deep Water Works
This class is taught in the deep end of the pool.  A specialized water belt suspends class participants.  These exercises are no-impact and include strengthening exercises.

Silver Waves
This Active Older Adults (AOA) class is designed to stretch, strengthen and increase the mobility of joints affected by arthritis.  Entering and exiting the pool is no problem thanks to our hydraulic chair lift and stairs that lead right into the pool.

Sliver Waves Plus
This AOA class is designed to deliver a challenging yet low-impact format with an emphasis on longer stretches and improving cardiovascular fitness.

Sports Wave
This class offers sport specific movements in a cardiovascular format.  Great for anyone looking for a no-impact yet intense water exercise class.

Deep Water Flow
Enjoy a 30- to 40- minute deep water cardiovascular segment followed by yoga inspired closing.  Be prepared to leave invigorated and relaxed at the same time!

Water Running
A deep water (with floatation belt) alternative workout for run training. Designed to deliver a structured, no impact pool workout that substitutes for road intervals or track work. Cadence in the water is about the same as on land. Improve your form and build cardio vascular fitness.
