 Since opening our doors in 2005, the Lowe's YMCA has played a vital role in building strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
In 2009, we gave over $195,000 in scholarships that provided children and families in need the opportunity to participate in Sports leagues, Swim Lessons, Afterschool & Summer Camp, Preschool, Building Teens and Starfish Academy, our summer literacy camp. Our 2010 events include Healthy Kids Day, the July 3rd Summer Celebration, and Breakfast with Santa.
 YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a free, fun-filled day of activities designed to promote healthy kids and families in spirit, mind and body. In 2008, the Lowe's YMCA event was identified as the third largest Healthy Kids Day in the nation. The event is comprised of the Starfish 5K, Fun Run, Healthy Kids Day and a business expo. The event will be held on Saturday, April 17.  Our 2009 July 3rd Summer Celebration grew significantly in attendance with 20,000 community members spending the evening on our front property and surrounding areas. Now marked as Mooresville's largest annual event, the Lowe's YMCA Summer Celebration is a holiday tradition for families throughout the community. This year, the event will be held on a weekend for the first time - Saturday, July 3.
 Breakfast with Santa celebrates the holiday season by giving families the opportunity to share in breakfast, meet Santa and participate in games and crafts. It is an indoor event with a 600-person capacity. The event traditionally sells out in two weeks, as it is a holiday staple for families with small children. Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday, December 4.
