The Starfish 5K & Fun Run, held in conjunction with Lowe's YMCA Healthy Kids Day, celebrates healthy competition while giving back to the community. Individuals from across the area run through the streets of Morrison Plantation.
The Starfish 5K & Fun Run are followed by Healthy Kids Day activities, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, designed to promote healthy kids and families in spirit, mind and body.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day celebrates making fitness fun, and introduces kids to an array of YMCA programs and tools that teach healthy behaviors and healthy ways to play - an essential lesson in learning how to take care of themselves throughout their lifetimes.
A vendor business fair also allows local organizations to showcase their healthy services and offerings for kids and the community.
Proceeds from this event and the Lowe's YMCA Annual Campaign help fund the YMCA Starfish Academy, a summer literacy program for rising 1st and 2nd graders who are reading below grade level.

2010 YMCA Race Series
The Lowe's YMCA Starfish 5K is part of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte 2010 Race Series.
 All proceeds from these races benefit our YMCA Annual Campaign, helping fund programs for youth, seniors, teens, and families in the Charlotte area. Your race entry fee will help to continue this support in our community. Please join us in all events this year!
