Special Programs

The First Annual Lowe’s YMCA Community Symposium took place in the Community Room of the branch on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This event, representing Outreach, the heart of the YMCA Christian mission, was chosen as the facility’s inauguration into the community.

Guided by the direction of the Lowe’s YMCA Community Development Committee, this year’s symposium focused on youth ages 13 to 17 who live within a three mile radius of downtown Mooresville. All symposium participants were carefully selected as service providers who have programs established or developing for these youth. The goal of the symposium was to create an action plan to reach those youth and their families, ensuring that all are aware of the services available to them.

The group established three actions items for 2006. Accomplishing these goals will require continuing and strengthening existing partnerships in the community, discovering and establishing new collective opportunities, and moving forward as a unified force.

Symposium Mission:

To bridge people, services and opportunities to create education, success and a sense of community that invents the ultimate impact.
