Swim Lessons Class Descriptions

Parent Child

  • Parents participate in this water adjustment class
  • Children must wear rubber/plastic pants (no diapers)
  • Ages newborn-3

Pike A

  • Child has little or no swimming experience
  • General introduction to basic water skills like blowing bubbles, kicking on front and back
  • Ages 3-5

Pike B

  • Child can swim independently with a flotation device and is comfortable with face in water
  • Ages 3-5

Eels

  • Child can swim horizontally with flotation device for 25 yards and swim horizontally with no flotation device for five yards
  • Ages 3-5

Starfish

  • No flotation device necessary
  • Must be able to swim 25 meters front and back and have rotary breathing skills
  • Learn front and back crawls, diving
  • Ages 4-5

Rays

  • Swims 15-20 yards horizontally with no flotation device
  • Child learns to tread water and increase endurance
  • Age 3 must have permission from Aquatics Director
  • Ages 4-5

Polliwog

  • Beginner class
  • Students learn front glide and flutter kick, back glide and flutter kick, paddle stroke and rhythmic breathing
  • Ages 6-15

Guppy

  • Must complete Polliwog or be able to swim 25 meters on their front and back
  • Students will refine paddle stroke and progress toward front crawl
  • Ages 6-15

Minnows

  • Must complete Guppy or be able to swim 35 meters back crawl and front crawl with rotary breathing
  • Students learn breaststroke kick, dolphin kick and elementary backstroke
  • Ages 6-15

 Adult

  • Open format class with your goals in mind
  • Designed for both beginners and advanced swimmers
  • Ages 16 and older
