Building Global Community

At the Y, building a strong global community begins at home. YMCAs in the United States:

  • Help young people develop cultural competencies
  • Help diverse populations connect to the community
  • Help individuals around the world gain access to life-changing resources and support

As an interconnected global network, the Y has resources and solutions to build bridges and make our changing communities stronger - both at home and abroad.

The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) is one of the oldest and largest movements for youth in the world. Founded in 1844, it now operates in 125 countries and has over 45 million members worldwide. The YMCA works to bring social justice and peace to young people and their communities, regardless of religion, race, gender or culture.
