YMCA of Greater Charlotte

All kids have great potential. At the Y, we help them set and achieve their personal and educational goals. They gain confidence as they recognize the Y as a place where they belong and can feel comfortable exploring new interests and passions.

Through leadership and academic enrichment programs such as mentoring, youth government and college preparation, we make sure that every child has an opportunity to envision a positive future, and to take an active role in strengthening the community.

Academic Enrichment

Early LearningParents as Teachers (PAT) provides the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.
3rd Grade Reading: Y Readers is a nationally recognized literacy program that serves students in grades K-3 who are reading below grade level. It provides the additional support that students need to be proficient in reading by the end of third grade.

Career & College Readiness: Y Achievers is a national YMCA program designed to help teens improve academic performance, develop a positive sense of self, build character, explore diverse college and career options, and interact with business professionals.

YMCA Preschool: The goal of YMCA Preschool is to provide a safe, wholesome, Christian environment where children grow in spirit, mind and body. Teachers focus on teaching your child the YMCA's Five Building Blocks: socialization, fine and gross motor skills, education and healthy choices. YMCA Preschool strives to enhance each child's self-esteem, reaching their God-given potential.

Arts & Humanities

At the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, we offer an array of ways for people of all ages to engage in visual, literary and performing arts. The YMCA's art program fulfills our mission to build healthy spirit, mind and body by encouraging creativity, self-expression and personal development. All you need is your imagination!

Leadership Development

To explore their leadership potential, Leaders in Training (LIT) engages teens in group work, problem solving and self discovery, believing that confident teens today will become contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
