• Y Run with Heather on Monday at 6:40 AM (meet in lobby)
• Cycle with Jennifer K on Monday at 6:45 PM in Room 1
• Cardio Weights on Wednesday at 4:50 PM with Kelly in Room 2
• Boot Camp with Diane in the gym on Thursdays will now start at 9:15 AM
• Cardio Weights on Saturday at 8:00 AM with Kelly in Room 2

SPECIAL EVENTS
Team Teach Challenge:
Join Stephanie and Leonard on Saturday, August 14th for the 8:00 AM Cardio Weights and 9:00 AM Weight Training classes!  Guaranteed to be a challenge
Belly Dancing: Join Elizabeth for “Beginner Bellydancing” on Saturday, August 14 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM in Room 2! Learn basic bellydancing movements such as hip circles, undulations and snake arms that will be incorporated into a complete dance!
Cyclessence: Join Michele on Sunday, August 15 at 1:00 PM for “Cool Cycle!”  Sick of the heat! Try this! The workout is hot but the theme is cool.  The music is cool (Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Transiberian Orchestra,) the dancing is cooler (Fred Astaire does Michael Jackson) and the scenery is coolest (Antarctica!)
• Bikes, Bagels & Bananas: Join Heather in the lobby for bagels and bananas on Monday, September 6th after her early morning cycle class.
• Mini Indoor Triathlon: Register today for our “Mini Indoor Triathlon” on September 6th (staggered start times begin at 7:00 AM.)  Deadline to register is August 23.  you can participate as an individual, team or family with beginner/advanced and youth/adult categories!  Registrations now available at the membership desk. 
• Labor Day Hours: We will be open from 6:00 AM-6:00 PM on Monday, September 6th. Early morning classes will start at 6:05 AM.  We will only have morning and lunchtime classes (no late afternoon/evening classes.)
• The Challenge: The “Battle of the Businesses” is coming in September!  Do you work for a business that is interested in fun competition and fitness/health activities?  Events include: coed volleyball, lap swim, 3 on 3 Basketball, team flag football, indoor cycling, 1 mile run, relays and more!  Watch for more information!
• Save the Date: Plan to attend our annual BE A COMMUNICTY STAR Dinner Auction on November 11, 2010 at Ballantyne Hotel.  Proceeds benefit Siskey YMCA Community Outreach Programs including Camp Boomerang!  Volunteers for this committee needed!  If you have an item or service you could donate to this event, please contact Debbie Inman: 704-716-4251 or debbie.inman@ymcacharlotte.org.     
• Great Service: Our goal is to consistently provide you with GREAT service! If a staff member did something to make your Y experience GREAT, please tell us about it using the drop boxes located throughout the branch!
• Early Morning Swimmers: The outdoor pool will be open Monday-Friday from 6:30 AM-8:30 AM for lap swimmers.  
• Healthy Lifestyle Program: Are you trying to make changes in your lifestyle to be healthier?  The Healthy Lifestyle Program which was developed by Stanford University can help you focus on gradual changes to help you improve your well-being.  Whether your goal is to increase your physical activity, improve your nutritional habits or manage your stress; this program will help you develop short term goals and practice the skills you need to adopt new habits.  The program is 120 months long and will begin Wednesday, September 1st.  Meetings will be Wednesday’s from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM.  Cost for the program is $149 for members and $199 for non-members.  Financial Assistances is available.  For more information, please contact Jennifer Dodson at 704-716-4258 or jennifer.dodson@ymcacharlotte.org.
• Outdoor WaterparkFor summer/holiday waterpark hours please go to: www.ymcacharlotte.org.  ALL CHILDREN TWELVE YEARS OLD AND YOUNGER WILL BE SWIM TESTED.  For their safety, children who do not pass the swim test will be restricted to the shallow area of the pool and require adult supervision.
Siskey Cycling 2010: Welcome to the Siskey Family YMCA’s outdoor cycling club. We are a recreational bike group whose mission is to have fun, meet some other cyclists, raise some money for great charities and get some exercise at the same time! All of our rides are “no-drop” (meaning we won’t leave you out on the back roads of Union county by yourself). We typically ride every Thursday morning at 9:00 am and Saturday/Sunday at 8:00 AM. Times do change as the weather dictates – so please contact Anne Marie Lax at Annemarie.lax@ymcacharlotte.org for up-to-date information.
August Featured Ride: The Assault on Morrow Mountain, Saturday, August 7, 2010
The Assualt on Morrow Mountain ride series includes 6 scheduled rides for 201`0.  This amazingly scenic ride starts and finishes in Locust, NC.  Located just 40 minutes east of Charlotte, the area provides some of the very best cycling in all of North Carolina.  You’ll enjoy great roads and minimal traffic as you ride your way towards Morrow Mountain State Park.  Once on top, you’ll enjoy scenic vies of Lake Tillery before descending back down the mountain.  Check out www.weeklyrides.com for all the details.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone, participants in adult GE classes must be 13 to attend. Bold boxes are recommended for those beginning or resuming an exercise program. Many of our classes such as Sculpt and Cycle are geared for all levels because you control the intensity of your workout by choosing your weights/ tension.  Our step classes are 100% tapless – please try our beginner classes before trying Cardio or Challenge Step. All classes are included in your membership fee. Please wear tennis shoes and bring a towel and water bottle. Cycle classes are first come first serve. Please plan on arriving early to secure your bike (especially on weekends.).

Back to School Campus Safety Seminar: One out of every two college students will be the victim of crime during their college years.  Join Dan Starks from Starks Training Institute for a comprehensive 4 hour safety and awareness class that focuses on the unique challenges of campus safety.  This class is a MUST for both parents and students.  TOpics will include adapting to new surroundings, dorm safety, identity theft, stalking, date rape and drug/alcohol related dangers.  Cost of $110.00 includes pepper foam, spike key chain, 4 hours of hands-on training and light refreshments.  To reserve a space, please call 704-392-7233 and reference the campus safety seminar for your preferred date from one of five sessions that will be held in the Alltel Room:

Community Blood Drive: Stop in the gym on Monday, July 19 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM or 4:00 PM-8:00 PM to donate blood.  ALl donors will be entered in a "Fuel for Life" drawing for free gas.  Give the gift of life!
Fall Triathlon Training: Get a head start on Tri Training for 2011!  The fall session will be held from August 9-October 17, 2010.  All training is done by certified and experienced instructors who have successfully completed marathons, half iron mans or full iron man competitions.  You will also receive small group nutrition counseling, bike maintenance info, transition training and the opportunity to participate in small outdoor 'beginner' rides.  Cost for Y members is $120 for the 10-week session and $180 for program members.  Registration for the fall session will start on July 14.  The training times are as follows:
    *Swim/Abs: Monday & Wednesday: 5:50 AM-7:00 AM
    *Run: Tuesday/Friday: 7:00 AM or 9:15 AM and Friday at 8:00 AM
    *Bike: Thursday/Saturday: 9:00 AM or weekends
