Our hope is for all young people to have a place where they belong, a voice that is listened to and opportunities throughout life’s journey to realize their God-given potential. Our Teen Program offers a variety of elements that offer opportunities for personal growth, leadership development and social interaction.
The Siskey YMCA hopes to become the destination spot for teens with an array of fun activities that will help parents build a strong foundation for their teens as they enter adulthood.
Texting, Sexting & Facebook Parent Workshop
Today’s world is a different world for our teens than what adults have experienced- don't you remember memorizing phone numbers and waiting to get to a house to use the phone or use a pay phone? Regardless, today’s kids and teens have a new breed of toys: laptops and cell phones. Today’s kids aren’t kids anymore, they are dealing with adult situations and adults need to keep on top of the technology. Not only do they have to talk k to them about sex and drugs, now add on texting, im’s and facebook. As much as technology is a blessing, it can also be a curse.
Join us for an educational workshop for parents. Attend an hour and a half long class and walk away being more knowledgable about cell phones and Facebook.

High School Volunteering Program
This program gives High School students an opportunity to make an impact in the community around them. The Siskey YMCA engages teenagers and gets them connected into programs that they have a passion for in order to give them a positive volunteering experience.
Studies show teenagers increase their self esteem by volunteering as they gain new skills and meet positive adult role models. In order to develop positive personality traits, young people need the chance to step outside of their own lives and help others. Helping others can have a lasting impact on their lives. Youth that volunteer just one hour a week are 50% less likely to abuse drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or engage in destructive behavior. They are more likely to do well in school and to graduate. Studies show that youth who volunteer are three times more likely to volunteer as adults. These young volunteers are more likely to vote and be philanthropic when they get older.
