Children's Program Center

  Enjoy a good work out or period of relaxation while your children play, explore, and learn with experienced, caring YMCA staff. During each child's stay, YMCA staff members provide learning experiences in a fun environment. The are trained to teach your child fine and gross motor skills, socialization and how to make healthy choices.  

Parents must remain on-site.  There is a two-hour maximum time limit for each child.  Children must be listed as dependents on membership.

Monday-Thursday  8:30 AM-1:00 PM
4:30 PM-7:30 PM
Friday 8:30 AM-1:00 PM
Saturday  9:00 AM-12:00 PM

  • Short-term drop-in childcare centers are not licensed and regulated by the State Department of Child Development. All YMCA of Greater Charlotte childcare programs adhere to YMCA Quality Standards.
  • Children may not participate in the following programs or a combination of the following programs for more than 4 hours:  Children's Enrichment Programs, Unlicensed Preschool Children's Center (drop-in care), and Unlicensed Afterschool. 

Sick Policy:
Sick children may not attend the Children's Program center.  If a child becomes ill while in our care, we will notify the parent(s) and ask that the child be removed from the room immediately.  Children must remain symptom free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to our Children's Program Center. If your child becomes ill with a highly infectious illness (ex. scarlet fever, chicken pox, lice, etc.), please contact the Children's Program Center Coordinator immediately.
Guidelines: (for when to keep your child at home) 
-oral/rectal temperature over 100 degrees
-sore throat w/fever 
-vomiting, diarrhea, impetigo
-strep throat
-child on antibiotics (should have treatment for at least 24 hours)
-mumps
-tuberculosis
-cough w/fever
-pink eye
-runny nose (if discolored)
-if child needs medication to control temp. 
-head lice
-measles
-viral flu
