Fitness and Wellness

The Steele Creek YMCA Fitness and Wellness programs offer a variety of services for members trying fitness for the first time, restarting their exercise routine, training for a competition or seeking personalized instruction.

Ongoing programs available for our members include:

  • Fitness Orientations (16+ years)  - Maybe you're new to exercise, or you've been here before and could use a refresher. Either way, we encourage you to sign up for a complimentary Fitness Orientation. Our fitness instructors will teach you how to use any of the cardiovascular amd/or strength equipment and give you general exercise guidelines to improve your health and reach your fitness goals. Orientation Appointments are divided into sections to ensure you are completely comfortable with your program and the equipment. Please note: Fitness orientations provide general information and instruction. These orientations are not a substitution for personal training. Orientations are FREE to all members. Reservations are recommended.   
  • Fitness Assessments (16+ years) - A Nationally Certified Personal Trainer will measure and document your blood pressure, body fat percentage, body mass index, flexibility, aerobic capacity, and muscular strength and endurance. This is a great way to learn about your individual fitness level so that you may work within your abilities and set realistic goals for progression. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. Schedule your appointment today! - $15/facility members only
  • Health Consultation (16+ years) - The YMCA wants to see you get healthier. That journey looks different for each person. Your YMCA is commited to helping you find your personal path to health. As a free service included in your membership, someone from our trained Health and Wellness team will meet with you, discuss goals and help you create your personal plan. The YMCA has a variety of healthy programs designed to help different people accomplish different goals. Your health consult will help you determine the steps that are right for you. FREE to members.
  • Health Coaching - This is a NEW program designed to provide you with a coach who will support, encourage and help you make progress towards your health goals. Through conversations you will set goals, create action steps and receive encouragement that will help you work through the obstacles that are getting in your way. Registration is required.            $10 per hour/facility members
  • Body Fat Analysis (16+ years) - One of the best ways to measure health gains is by monitoring your body fat percentage.  Muscle is more dense than fat so the scale can be misleading. Your body fat analysis gives more accurate results in terms of your progress and overall wellness. FREE to members. Registration is recommended.
  • Metabolic Testing- This is for anyone who wants to get more out of their exercise and nutrition program.  To maximize your performance, Metabolic Testing will give you a precise roadmap for success.  Appropriate for people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. 
  • Lifestyle and Weight Management - This program is the right fit for you if you are looking to live a healthier lifestyle through balanced eating habits and physical activity, if you have never exercised before or have difficulty maintaining exercise, or if you are overweight or just looking to lose a few extra pounds.
  • Nutrition 101 - We offer nutrition workshops the third Tuesday of each month.
  • Personal Training - This training will give you a one on one experience with a certified trainer who will tailor an exercise routine to match your individual needs.
  • Yoga Personal Training - This training will take your yoga practice to a high level of intensity.
