Childwatch

The Stratford Richardson YMCA Childwatch provides to our members complimentary
short-term, drop-in child care, while parents or guardians remain on-site. 

Hours of Operation

Monday - Thursday 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Friday 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Saturday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
* Please consult with Childwatch for modified Holiday Hours

Childwatch Policies and Procedures:  

  • Only children 6-weeks to 12 years old are permitted in Childwatch
  • Childwatch is a FREE service to our members; 2 hours per day maximum
  • Parents / Guardians must remain on site while their children are in Childwatch
  • Children must wear their wristband at all time while in Childwatch
  • All babies need to be fed and changed before coming to Childwatch
  • It is required with infants that a diaper bag with diapers and wipes is left with the Childwatch staff and all belongings must be labeled
  • Infants are fed on demand.  All bottles must be prepared prior to entrance into Childwatch
  • Children in the process of being potty trained should wear a pull-up while in Childwatch.  Please notify staff if the child is potty training 
  • A child exhibiting any signs of illness (i.e; runny nose or eyes, coughing, fever, etc.) they will not be allowed to stay in Childwatch.  Childwatch Staff is not permitted to administer medicine of any kind to a child. 
  • Please DO NOT bring food or drinks into Childwatch  
  • "Time Out" is the method of discipline used for misbehavior in the service
  • Our staff will do out best to create a happy stay for each child.  If a child is upset about the new environment after 15-20 minutes we will locate you in the facility
  • If a parent is later than 5 minutes picking up a child, you will be charged $2
  • Please DO NOT bring toys into Childwatch.  We are not responsible for lost or broken toys

Short–term, drop–in child care centers are not licensed and regulated by the State Department of Child Development. All YMCA of Greater Charlotte child care programs adhere to YMCA Quality Standards.

Children may not participate in the following programs or a combination of the following programs for more than four hours in a 24 hour period in a Charlotte YMCA or combination of Charlotte YMCAs:

  • Children's Enrichment Programs
  • Unlicensed Preschool
  • Childwatch (drop–in care)
  • Unlicensed Afterschool
