Bill McCoy Community Playground

Every child deserves a safe place to play!
Never before has the YMCA's dedication to strengthening children been more important than now. Today's generation of children is the first in 100 years with a shorter life expectancy than their parents. On average, young people are less active and, for some, they simply do not have a safe place to play.
The University City YMCA , committed to changing this trend, is proud to have an on-site playground open to our community. Named after founding YMCA board member and community leader, Bill McCoy, and made possible by a generous donation from retired Carolina Panther, Mike Minter, the playground opened in April 2007. Since that time, kids throughout our area have enjoyed swinging, sliding, and climbing to their heart's content.
The unique design gives toddlers, older children and adults who are young at heart the opportunity to play and be active in a safe environment. The Bill McCoy Community Playground is open to the public from dawn to dusk.
