Day Camp Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much do I need to pay up front to register for camp?
Deposits per session are required for each camper to register. Current YMCA Afterschool participants = $10 per session per child; All other participants = $20 per session per child. Financial Assistance (YPathways) does not apply to deposits.
2. Do you offer Financial Assistance?
Yes! Our Financial Assistance program is called Y Pathways. Each year, the University City YMCA has a Community Outreach Campaign that makes programs like Day Camp, Afterschool, Preschool, Sports and Swimming available to those who need a little extra help.
If you are interested in applying for YPathways, please pick up a confidential Y Pathways application or contact Luisa Cruz at (704) 716-6774.
If you would like to make a charitable donation to help another child attend summer camp this year, please contact Sherry Waters at (704) 716-6706 or sherry.waters@ymcacharlotte.org.

4. Do campers swim during the day?
Absolutely! All full-day campers swim in our beautiful outdoor Waterpark Tuesday - Friday (weather permitting). ALL CAMPERS are required to take a swim test on the Monday of each session and are given colored swim bands to help lifeguards identify their swim level. Beginners/non-swimmers are able to swim in the shallow pool. Half day sports and dance camps do not swim.
