The University City YMCA has a variety of events and activities especially designed for our members aged 55 and up who want to stay active and connected to their community. These activities include:
Senior and Single
Third Thursday of each month
6:30 PM
Restaurant Varies (Call for details)
Why dine alone? Join other single, divorced and widowed active adults for dinner at various University City area restaurants on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM for food, fellowship and fun! You will pay for your own meal and the cost will vary based on the restaurant. You must RSVP to Lisa Venancio to reserve your space.
Party Bridge
Mondays & Wednesdays
1:00 PM - 3:45 PM
Participants should have knowledge of how to play the game. We meet in the YMCA Large Conference Room. Please call to inquire about "Beginner's Bridge" or Bridge instructional classes.
Walking Club
Mondays & Wednesdays
9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
It is always more fun to go walking when you have someone to talk to! Join us for a brisk walk outdoors (weather permitting) or on the indoor track. We meet in the YMCA lobby near the front doors.
Group Exercise and Water Fitness Classes
Check out our Fitness & Wellness Calendar or pick one up at the branch. Classes designed for our active, older members and special populations are indicated with bold type.
Zumba Gold
Mondays
10:30 - 11:15 AM
Zumba Gold takes the fun, energy and excitement of Zumba (a Latin-based dance/fitness class that combines high energy and motivating music with unique, easy moves and combinations) and tailors it with a lighter intensity for the Active Adult! Great for first-time exercisers too!
To receive Active Adult updates by email, please email Lisa Venancio, Active Adult Coordinator, at lisa.venancio@ymcacharlotte.org. She can also be reached by phone at (704) 716-6783.
