The University City YMCA (UCY) proudly presents the 8th Annual University City Street Party on Saturday, May 17 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will be held on the fields behind the UCY Waterpark which also opens for the Summer season on that day.
A celebration of the diversity of the University City area, the event will feature displays and performances of various countries, food from local restaurants and retailers and activities for children. Booths for each country display art, crafts and other cultural items and are staffed by community volunteers. Entertainment will include a demonstration by the Dragon Champions Tae Kwan Do, as well as the YMCA Dance Ensemble and Irish dancers. Inflatable bouncers, face painting and activities that encourage healthy spirit, mind and body for all are also part of the agenda.
According to Andrea Eisenberger, Marketing and Communications Director for the UCY and chairperson for the celebration, the University City Street Party “really highlights the rich diversity that makes the University area so special. It is run by volunteers who come from all over the world and are excited to share the many things that make their culture unique. It is exciting to see all the different people come together as one for this event.”
Free and family-friendly, the Street Party has become one of the University City’s fastest growing events, drawing nearly 3,000 participants last year. The University City YMCA is located at 8100 Old Mallard Creek Road on the corner of Mallard Creek Road and West W. T. Harris Boulevard behind Rite Aid.
