The YMCA of Greater Charlotte has the ability to deepen our understanding and commitment to this important work. Responses from staff leaders from our YCommunities noted the most interest is in Africa and the Middle East. As a result, our focus areas for International are Africa and the Middle East, specifically the Jerusalem International YMCA.

We will continue to expand our relationship with the YMCAs of Senegal and The Gambia to strengthen their program expertise, leadership development and operational resources to enable them to serve the growing needs of a diverse population and build capacity for long-term sustainability. These YMCAs deliver vital community development programming that includes: vocational training, education and literacy, health education and advocacy, and leadership development. 

In partnership with the Jerusalem International YMCA, every other year we will continue to host Moderate Voices for Progress, a program dedicated to helping young adults from Israel, Gaza and the West Bank prepare to lead efforts to reduce hostilities and support peaceful coexistence.
