CROSSFIT

CrossFit is a training program structured around ten components of fitness: strength, stamina, endurance, accuracy, power, agility, balance, speed, coordination and flexibility applied to challenging Workouts of the Day (WODs).

All WODs can be modified and are appropriate for all fitness levels. CrossFit is distinctive in its focus on maximizing neuroendocrine response, developing power and cross-training with multiple training modalities as well as constant training and practice with functional movements.

Dowd YMCA CrossFit members can attend unlimited classes throughout the week in our 4,258 square foot studio, as well as have access to our new rooftop track and turf field.

We program with a purpose. While CrossFit workouts are known for their variety, the workouts should never be random. Our experienced coaches lead all of the classes and will constantly challenge you to perform your best, while keeping your health and safety a priority.

Contact us to set up a free workout and tour our facility. You must schedule a time to come in for a free intro workout or an assessment with a coach prior to signing up for CrossFit group classes.
 

GETTING STARTED

  1. Try a FREE class! It’s easy to get started, no matter your fitness level or background. Email DowdYMCACrossFit@ymcacharlotte.org to sign up for your free class.
  2. Register for Fundamentals. This is a required series of classes designed to help you learn the basic movements of CrossFit. Those with previous CrossFit experience have the option to test out if they have the required level of competency. Member: $125
  3. Join Group Classes. Once you’ve completed Fundamentals, you are ready to WOD with crew!

Extra Work With The Coach
Do you have a skill, a lift or a movement you want to work on more? We program the one-hour session specifically for your goals. We offer personal attention, practice drills, video analysis and a WOD.

CROSSFIT KIDS

CrossFit Kids introduces kids to age-appropriate movements and exercises that assist in maximizing physical skills, self-confidence and body awareness. CrossFit Kids aims to make exercise fun and to help your young athlete move better, safer, and more effectively. Classes include a warm-up, skill work, workout, and game. CrossFit Kids enhances a child’s motor skills by teaching better movement and cognitive skills through engaging children through their workouts, which are scaled appropriately for their age. This class augments your child’s involvement in sports by incorporating strength and conditioning to improve their overall athleticism.
