Lake Norman YMCA is open and welcomes you!
The year 2020 is going to be an exciting one for the Lake Norman community. At the Y, we are renovating the facility to better serve our community.
We’re increasing our fitness square footage to grow our impact on a community that deserves healthy spirits, bodies and minds for all. But it’s more than a building. The walls of the Y are a venue for us to do great community work with the children, adults and families whom we call neighbors.
You’ll begin to see changes happening in early February 2020 as we begin renovation on the building in three phases. Our goals are to become the premiere fitness facility in the Lake Norman area by improving functionality and traffic flow as well as safety and security with an enhanced Y Kids area which will move to the youth development wing. Throughout the year, we’ll keep you updated with emails and social media so you know what to expect during your daily visits to the Y and what you can look forward to as the building and community transforms with these changes.
As for changes, you'll start to see some new things happening next week: our locker rooms will be closed DEC 19-22 for updates and repairs including new paint and carpet. The women's sauna will also be upgraded to match the upgrades we made recently to the men's sauna. The locker rooms will reopen on DEC 23.
Our ability to build a brighter future for the Lake Norman YMCA and community is powered by the generosity of our donors. If you’d like to learn more about supporting our Capital Campaign, please contact: email@example.com.
Locker rooms reopen at the branch with new paint, carpet and upgrades to sauna areas!
On January 29 through renovations, we are closing the downstairs fitness center and relocating equipment upstairs to the second floor.
Our year is kicking off with some exciting changes at the Lake Norman YMCA. In early February, we will begin renovations to better serve our community by drastically increasing our fitness square footage.
As we grow our impact on a community that deserves healthy spirits, bodies and minds for all, your daily routine at the Y may change slightly.
Throughout the year, we’ll keep you updated with emails and social media so you know what to expect during your daily visits to the Y and what you can look forward to as the building and community transforms with these changes.

On Monday, February 3 we will officially kick off the Lake Norman YMCA renovation. You will begin to see many changes in the branch including temporary construction walls in the lobby resulting in a smaller space in the short term. You will still come through the front doors to scan your membership card and access branch amenities. Our Lake Norman YMCA team will be fully available to help you navigate any help you may need. Look for our team in their nametags to be your guides throughout this renovation journey!
Beyond the first floor fitness area which is closing on January 29, all other spaces remain open and operating on a normal schedule. There may be some temporary closures of the traffic lane that runs directly in front of the branch. This will allow for safe passage of any foot traffic between preschool and afterschool areas and the lobby/gymnasium areas. While you can expect to see a higher level of construction activity and energy starting FEB 3, please know that our construction partners will be in designated construction areas only. This includes a parking area near the back corner of the lot for construction partners' personal vehicles. We will continue to update you with emails and via our renovation page [https://www.ymcacharlotte.org/branches/lake-norman/renovations] throughout this year.
If you have specific questions about the renovation or your experience, please reach out to our team in the branch or to me via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Branch renovations are fully underway at the Lake Norman Y, and we've made tremendous progress since we began on FEB 3. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to make the Y an even better experience for you and our community. We are working hard to complete this phase of updates and expect for the summer including your 2020 Summer Day Camp to be a fun, safe and construction-free time! Please note that we will temporarily close the entire second floor on MARCH 4-5, including the group exercise room, cardio area and free weights area, for some rewiring related to the renovation. On MARCH 5, the free weights area and group exercise room will reopen after 9 AM; the cardio space will remain closed through end of day on MARCH 5. This closure is dependent on weather; if rain occurs we will adjust the timing. All other areas of the branch will remain open and fully operational during this time. We look forward to serving you and your community soon at the Lake Norman Y!
