Give to the Y Give to the Y

When you give to the Brace Family YMCA, you make our community better through life-changing programs and services focused on:

Give to the YSummer Camp
Camp creates a fun, safe place where kids can be themselves, cultivate friendships and learn from positive role models. Each summer more than 1,300 kids attend camp at the Brace Family YMCA.
“As a single mother, Gidget needed safe and affordable summer childcare for her 3-year-old daughter Taylor. She needed a place where they could both feel at ease and her daughter could be active and nurtured. That’s when Gidget found the Y. Her daughter immediately fell in love with the camp counselors. Taylor, now 10, has been a camper at the Y every year since and would like to be a camp counselor one day. “The camp counselors have become Taylor’s extended family, teaching her to do the right thing and to act responsibly,” says Gidget. “We are so grateful to the Y for making the cost of camp affordable with financial assistance.”
Youth Sports
When kids play sports, they build confidence and develop lifelong healthy habits. Hundreds of kids participate in youth sports at the Brace Family YMCA each year.
A gift of $75 gives a child the opportunity to gain confidence during a season of youth sports.

Give to the YSafety Around Water
Safety Around Water is the Y’s on-site water safety program that engages low-income youth living in local apartment communities where pools are often without lifeguards. The 8-session course, taught by certified YMCA swim instructors and lifeguards, teaches children basic water safety and swimming skills that reduce their risk of drowning and give them confidence in and around water. Safety Around Water served 1,400 children at 28 local apartment communities last summer.
A gift of $70 offers a child at risk of drowning the chance to learn the life-saving skill of swimming.

The Y is dedicated to tackling our community’s greatest health challenges – obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer – by providing the support, guidance and resources people need to fight chronic disease, improve mobility and lead healthier lives. Improving the quality of life for our whole community is our passion.
Over her past 15 years as a Brace Family YMCA member, Heather’s life has been filled with change. She’s added four children to her family, worked as a pediatric nurse and started her own business. Yet even with her busy lifestyle, Heather has remained committed to the Y and finds time to consistently work out each week. She stays motivated knowing that exercise is benefiting her physically as well as mentally. Heather says her workouts give her energy, help her manage stress and live a healthy lifestyle.

Give to the YCamp Boomerang
Autism affects 1 in 68 children. Each summer, the Brace Family YMCA gives 210 children with autism and other special needs the opportunity to experience camp alongside their peers through YMCA Camp Boomerang. Our inclusion-based camp engages campers ages 5 to 15 in a variety of enrichment and specialized activities and provides one-on-one staff support to help facilitate social interaction and ensure safety. Campers engage in typical summer camp activities including swimming, devotions, arts and crafts and ropes courses as well as occupational and music therapy.

A gift of $325 sends a child with autism to one week of Camp Boomerang, giving him the chance to experience all that camp has to offer.

Active Adults (55+ Years) Programming
The Brace Family YMCA helps the senior members of our community avoid isolation by bringing them together to enjoy a nutritious meal and share in common interests like water fitness, wellness workshops, creative arts, travel excursions and Christian fellowship.

A gift of $750 provides a senior with one year of access to the YMCA where they can connect with new friends and find a network of support.

Give to the YFinancial Assistance
Our Y is committed to serving those in greatest need. Through the generosity of our donors, the Brace Family YMCA is able to provide $1.4 million annually in financial assistance, making life-changing Y programs and services available to those who need us most in our community.
  • Supporting the Simmons YMCA – Our Y is committed to serving those in greatest need. Through the generosity of our donors, the Brace Family YMCA is able to fund $390,000 in life-changing programs and services at the Simmons YMCA – keeping the Y available for those who need us most. “The reason I chose the Simmons YMCA is because the staff are very welcoming and make my son and me feel like family. As a hard working single mom, I really appreciate the financial assistance that the Y offers so that I can keep my son actively engaged across multiple programs at affordable rates.”
A gift of $750 provides a single mother with one year of access to the YMCA where she can connect with new friends and find a network of support.
