MANAGING A HEALTH CONDITION

The Y helps you manage a range of health conditions, including cancer wellness, diabetes prevention and management and more.

Regular exercise and healthy eating habits are essential to the treatment of many chronic diseases. A team of YMCA of Greater Charlotte health professionals will support you in a comprehensive approach to weight management, fitness programming and medical guidance.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA The Y and LIVESTRONG® joined together to create LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals. The research-based program offers people affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.

Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. In addition to physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people impacted by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA helps people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body. Learn More >>

Transform
Are you tired of making resolutions to lose weight, to get fit and be healthy, only to find yourself repeatedly standing in the kitchen with an empty ice cream container and feelings of regret and shame? We can HELP! In TRANSFORM you will discover new strategies that can break unhealthy behaviors associated with emotional eating.

By helping you understand what is behind the drive to overeat, we will show you a path out of the destructive cycle of using food in ways that don't serve you well

Each week will cover topics for gaining understanding into hidden hungers that often drive emotional eating, as well as tools to change those behaviors.
Our goal is to enable participants to develop insight into their emotional eating through:

  • Education
  • Small Group Support
  • Accountability
