BALLANTYNE YMCA CROSSFIT

CrossFit is a training program structured around ten components of fitness: strength, stamina, endurance, accuracy, power, agility, balance, speed, coordination and flexibility applied to challenging Workouts of the Day (WODs).

All WODs can be modified and are appropriate for all fitness levels. CrossFit is distinctive in its focus on maximizing neuroendocrine response, developing power and cross-training with multiple training modalities as well as constant training and practice with functional movements.

The Ballantyne YMCA CrossFit affiliate was created in 2010. Our members have access to our 5,000 sq. ft. CrossFit facility and unlimited access to the over 40 classes offered per week including Olympic Lifting classes, Strength classes, and Open Gym.

We program with a purpose. While CrossFit workouts are known for their variety, the workouts should never be random. Our experienced coaches lead all of the classes and will constantly challenge you to perform your best, while keeping your health and safety a priority.

GETTING STARTED

  1. Try a FREE class! It’s easy to get started, no matter your fitness level or background. We offer a free intro class the last Wednesday of every month. Email Ballantyneymcacrossfit@ymcacharlotte.org  to sign up for your free class.
  2. Register for CrossFit 101. This is a required series of classes designed to help you learn the basic movements of CrossFit. Those with previous CrossFit experience have the option to test out if they have the required level of competency. Member: $125
  3. Join Group Classes. Once you’ve completed CrossFit 101, you are ready to WOD with crew!

Extra Work With The Coach
Do you have a skill, a lift or a movement you want to work on more? We program the one-hour session specifically for your goals. We offer personal attention, practice drills, video analysis and a WOD.

CROSSFIT JV AND VARSITY | Grades 6 - 12

This strength and conditioning program is designed for 6th - 12th grade athletes and non-athletes alike. We combine gymnastics, body weight calisthenics, and light weightlifting with high intensity training to develop capacity across the ten general physical skills: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy. With workouts that are scalable for all, CrossFit JV/Varsity can equally benefit both the accomplished athlete as well as the less active individual. In addition to working out, our program will teach our young athletes the value of focus, perseverance, dedication, and motivation.
   

CROSSFIT KIDS | Grades 2 - 5

CrossFit Kids introduces kids to age-appropriate movements and exercises that assist in maximizing physical skills, self-confidence and body awareness. CrossFit Kids aims to make exercise fun and to help your young athlete move better, safer and more effectively. Classes include a warm-up, skill work, workout and game. CrossFit Kids enhances a child's motor skills by teaching better movement and cognitive skills through engaging children during their workouts, which are scaled appropriately for their age. This class augments your child's involvement in sports by incorporating strength and conditioning to improve on their overall athleticism
