Food / Snack Info
Snack and dinner are provided daily. Parents will receive a menu a week before the following months menu is published. Parents may also send a healthy snack to Afterschool with their scholar. We are a nut-free facility.
If your scholars have any specific food allergies, we will do everything we can to provide an alternative. If a scholar refuses to eat because he/she does not like a particular food, we will not provide an alternative. Scholars also have the option of bringing their own snack. Please be mindful to provide healthy, balanced meals that are not heavily sugared or high in caffeine. A complete meal should include a meat or meat alternate, fruit or vegetable, and bread. Sodas and fast food will not be permitted in the program. There may be occasional sweets served at special events, but servings will be limited.
We value regular communication with our parents and want to keep you informed of all that’s happening in our program from important reminders to program highlights. Parents will receive monthly newsletters regarding upcoming events, afterschool news and parent involvement opportunities.
Pick Up
The McCrorey YMCA Afterschool staff wants to ensure your child’s safety while participating in our program. Scholars MAY NOT be dropped off prior to 2:30 PM. This allows our staff to properly prepare for the day without interruption. Staff will be ready to greet your scholar promptly at 2:30 PM.
An authorized adult (18 years of age or older) must sign the child in and out each day. Parents are required to come in and sign their child out with our staff.
Participants will only be released to the responsible adult listed on your child’s program registration form. Every adult must present a photo ID at rides out. In the event that your child will be picked up by an adult not listed on the registration form, a parent note (including the person's name as it appears on their photo ID) is required and photo ID must be shown during rides out. Help us speed up the rides out process by having your ID ready. This new policy eliminates the use of code words.
We encourage you to leave your scholar until the day ends so he or she will not miss out on activities and recognition of awards earned that day. We understand that there will be exceptions and when these occur, please notify our Director in writing or by phone at least 3 days in advance.
In fairness to our staff and because of subsequent program demands, it is very important that your child is picked up each Afterschool day on time. Pick up after the designated pick up time of 6:30 PM will result in a late fee charge to be paid the following day. This fee is $1 per minute after 6:30 PM. This secures accountability in the care of the children. Failure to pay the late fee will result in a cessation of services until the fee is paid. Payment may not be left with the counselor and/or leadership staff. All payments must be made at the front desk.
Payment Procedures
Afterschool registrations are processed on a first-come, first served basis:
  • YMCA Member Registration began April 1, 2017
  • Program Participant Registration began April 15, 2017
Tuition is drafted on the 15th of each month from August to May and split into 10 equal payments based on annual tuition cost. Schools that follow a Year-Round calendar will make 10 equal payments that are due on the 15th of each month beginning July 15th and ending on April 15th. If registration takes place after August 15th, tuition will be divided among the remaining months of the school year. Alternate payment schedules maybe available upon request.
Monthly payments received after the scheduled due dates will be charged an additional $25 fee. If payment is not received in full, the scholar will be removed from the roster and parents will be responsible for finding alternate childcare until services are restored.
Cancellations or withdrawal from the afterschool program will require a 15 days written notice. Parents will be responsible for paying for all days of service through the end of the 15 day notice period. A Program Cancellation Form must be completed and turned in to your YMCA Sales and Service representative.
As part of our My Y Pricing rate structure, an Adjusted Program Rate is available to all who qualify. Both Members and Program Participants must provide income verification at the Sales & Service Center in order to receive an adjusted program rate.
