With decades of experience in the camping field, our Leadership Team love sharing in the growth and development of campers. 

Dave Purcell | Executive Director
Dave accepted the position as Executive Director of Herring Ridge/Camp Harrison in the fall of 2008. An Ohio native, he graduated from Miami University with a BS & MS in Education. Dave started in full time camping in 1987 as the Director of YMCA Camp Cosby in Birmingham, AL. In 1993, he began his involvement with the YMCA of Greater Charlotte as the Executive Director of Operations for YMCA Camp Thunderbird. Dave has worked very close with YMCA Camp Harrison since its opening in 2004. He is married to Margie, and they have one daughter, Marlett.

Bridgett Griffin | Operations Director
Bridgett joined the YMCA Camp Harrison team in the Spring of 2010, after a four year stint as a Park Ranger on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A Wilkes County native, Bridgett has experience in landscaping and is a lover of animals. She earned an associate’s degree in horticulture from Wilkes Community College. This led to her BA in Biology and Recreation Management from Appalachian State University. She is married to Jason.

Lindsey Buffaloe | Assistant Director-Operations
Lindsey graduated from East Carolina University in 2012, with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. She came to YMCA Camp Harrison in March of 2016, after working for both the YMCA of Western North Carolina and the YMCA of the Triangle. Lindsey is married to Gary, who is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and they have one daughter, Ellie.

Laura Cornett | Assistant Director of Personnel
Laura is originally from Greenville, SC and graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. Laura came to Camp Harrison as an intern for the horseback riding program in the summer of 2010 and has been here ever since! She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Personnel and enjoys working with the awesome staff that we bring in each summer. In her free time she enjoys running on our trails, riding and training horses, and spending quality time with her sweet little dog, Rocky. She is very close to her family who still resides in Greenville, SC.

Cyndie Feemster | Office Assistant
Cyndie started working at YMCA Camp Harrison March of 2012. She graduated from Ithaca College in 2002 with a degree in Leisure Services and Outdoor Education. After working at YMCA camps in MI, AL, and NC and directing Girl Scout Camp, she is enjoying the office setting, registering campers, running reports and answering phones. Cyndie enjoys sharing the outdoors and experiencing camp with her husband, Bob and three children, Hayden, Charleigh, and Ellery.

Sallie Renfrow  | Sales & Service Lead
Sallie joined the Camp Harrison team in July 2018.  She attended Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute for an Associates of Fine Arts in Percussion. Ever since she was asked to help lead worship for some Camp Harrison events, she has fallen in love with the campus and was interested in working for the camp. Sallie is very involved with the praise team at her church. She enjoys being the coordinator for The Gathering, a community worship service in Hudson NC. She also loves the outdoors and her fur babies, Gatsby and Regina.
Sarah Brondos | Branch Services Admin
Sarah lives in beautiful, nearby Wilkesboro, NC, and began her time as the Branch Services Manager at YMCA Camp Harrison in the summer of 2017. Sarah has been involved in camping life since the early 1990’s with Doe River Gorge Ministries in Hampton, Tennessee. She has three amazing sons that have grown up attending summer camps. Sarah watched as camp experiences grounded and shaped them. She has a strong appreciation for the positive impact that camps can have on a young person’s life and brings that perspective to the office team and to the parents she works with all year long.
