WE HELP CHILDREN GROW

At the Y, we believe that children learn best through play.

We have modified our preschool to place health and safety at the forefront. While still providing a high-quality education to all of our preschoolers, we have updated our operating procedures to align with recommendations from the CDC and NC Department of Health and Human Services. This includes health screenings for all children and staff before entry, reduced group sizes, increased facility disinfection and more.

Our safe environment gives kids the perfect place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships plus cultivate fine and gross motor skills. We plan our classes to develop each child’s self-esteem and strong image of self-worth. In every class, we encourage children to explore, ask questions and solve problems.

Our early childhood educators provide a warm and secure atmosphere with five areas of focus to help kids meet and exceed developmental milestones: learning, life skills, healthy habits, socialization and fine and gross motor skills.

In an effort to support families who are not yet ready to attend in-person preschool programming, our Y team will provide two virtual learning options for children and families to engage in at home during the 2020-2021 school year. Our virtual preschool resource library will provide families with access to weekly activities developed by experienced early childhood educators. In our remote learning preschool program, children will participate in two virtual classes each week with a teacher and peers to develop social skills, build relationships, and enjoy traditional preschool experiences like songs and circle time stories. Families will also have access to the virtual resource library in addition to the live classes.
