"The Community Experience"

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an immigrant in the United States or to suddenly navigate daily life in a new language? With nearly 20,000 Latinos living along the South Blvd. Corridor, understanding our community matters. The Community Experience is a 90-minute interactive session designed to deepen awareness of immigration and foster empathy through hands-on learning and discussion.

Join us to learn more about this great work and participate in an engaging, thought provoking workshop that builds understanding and connection. Reserve your free spot at an upcoming session below.

In this session, you will:
  • Learn about the real stories and lived experiences of people building new lives far from home in a new language
  • Explore practical ways to create more inclusive and welcoming communities
  • Gain clarity on appropriate terminology and how to communicate with greater empathy and cultural awareness
*The event is Free

Launched in 2014 in response to a Community Needs Assessment, the South Boulevard Initiative at the Harris YMCA builds community and supports the acculturation and upward mobility of Latino immigrants living in Charlotte’s South Boulevard corridor. Through culturally responsive programs, education, and referrals, the initiative has partnered with the South Boulevard community for more than a decade to strengthen families and connect neighbors to critical resources.
