Youth Basketball Circuit

There’s no better place to learn the basics of basketball than where it was invented – the Y. Since 1891, Y volunteers have coached kids and adults in this high-energy, exciting game. Volunteer coaches lead players in drills and games designed to develop the fundamental skills of ball handling, dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. Kids improve technique and build lasting friendships.

This season, we are excited to offer a recharged basketball program to our young athletes. Our Youth Basketball Circuit (formerly referred to as league/season) will be offered in a regional format.

  • North Region: Keith Family YMCA, Lake Norman YMCA, Lincoln County YMCA, Lowe’s YMCA, Sally’s YMCA
  • Central Region: Dowd YMCA, Harris YMCA, Johnston YMCA, McCrorey YMCA, Simmons YMCA, Stratford Richardson YMCA
  • South Region: Brace Family YMCA, Morrison YMCA, Steele Creek YMCA

All games and practices will be held at a combination of these YMCA’s within each region. Practice and game schedules will be provided in advance of the start of the season.

The season will kick off with two weeks of practice (twice a week) and then will transition into games (up to two games per week). We will host a week of practices mid-season to ensure our players and coaches are able to make the necessary adjustments and further develop player skills. Uniforms will be provided and should be worn for each game.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions:

  • All coaches, staff and players will receive a health screen before entering the YMCA facility.
  • 1 adult per athlete will be allowed to stay in the gymnasium in the designated viewing areas.
  • Gymnasiums will be cleared after each game for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Sanitizing stations will be placed at the entrance to the gymnasium.
  • Face coverings must be worn by everyone in the gymnasium with the exception of players and referees while the game is happening.
  • All players must bring their own labeled water bottles.
