Youth Basketball Circuit

There’s no better place to learn the basics of basketball than where it was invented – the Y. Since 1891, Y volunteers have coached kids and adults in this high-energy, exciting game. Volunteer coaches lead players in drills and games designed to develop the fundamental skills of ball handling, dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. Kids improve technique and build lasting friendships.

This season, we are excited to offer a recharged basketball program to our young athletes. Our Youth Basketball Circuit (formerly referred to as league/season) will be offered in a regional format.

  • North Region: Lake Norman YMCA, Lincoln County YMCA, Lowe’s YMCA, Sally’s YMCA
  • Central North Region: Johnston YMCA, Keith Family YMCA, McCrorey YMCA, Simmons YMCA
  • Central South Region: Dowd YMCA, Harris YMCA, Stratford Richardson YMCA
  • South Region: Brace Family YMCA, Morrison YMCA, Steele Creek YMCA

All games and practices will be held at a combination of these YMCA’s within each region. Practice and game schedules will be provided in advance of the start of the season. If we do not have enough teams within a region, cross-region play could be implemented.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions (these are subject to change as guidelines are adjusted by the CDC) :

  • Limited space will be available in the gymnasium for spectators. We ask everyone to be mindful of the need to safely social distance in-between families.
  • Sanitizing stations will be placed at the entrance to the gymnasium.
  • Face coverings are required for athletes ages 5 and up. The Y also recommends athletes ages 2-4 wear face coverings when possible. For children with medical exceptions, a notification must be submitted to your region.
  • All coaches and spectators are required to wear face masks while in the building.
  • All players must bring their own labeled water bottles.
